Obedience
Bible study on obedience.

Heb. 5:9; 2 Cor. 10:5

Jesus is the source (author) of salvation to those who obey Him (cf. 1 Pet. 1:2, NASB).

Acts 5:29; Matt. 7:21-23

We must obey God. We must do God's will (cf. Phil. 2:12).

Rom. 15:18

We must obey God in word and deed (cf. Rom. 1:5; 16:26).

2 Th. 3:14

We must obey the word of God (cf. 1 Pet. 1:2, 14, 22).

We must obey the truth (1 Pet. 1:22). God's word is truth (Jn. 17:17). If we are not obeying the truth, we are obeying unrighteousness (Rom. 2:8).

We must practice the truth (1 Jn. 1:6) by keeping the commandments (1 Jn. 2:3f; cf. 2 Jn. 1:9).

2 Th. 1:8

We must obey the gospel of Christ (cf. 2 Jn. 1:9; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 1 Pet. 4:17).

Acts 6:7;
Rom. 1:5; 16:26

We must become obedient to the faith to be saved.

The faith (i.e., the gospel) was delivered once for all to the saints (Jude 1:3).

Heb. 5:9

Christ became the author of eternal salvation to those who obey Him.

Jesus learned obedience by the things which He suffered (Heb. 5:8). Therefore He became the author of salvation (Heb. 2:10) to those who obey Him (Heb. 5:9).

Rom. 6:17

We must obey God's doctrine, not man's (cf. 2 Jn. 1:9; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Gal. 6:2).

Obedience is from the heart (Rom. 6:17).

2 Th. 1:8

God takes vengeance upon those who do not obey the gospel of Christ.

Rom. 1:5; 16:26

We must be obedient to the faith.

Eph. 6:5-8; Col. 3:22- 25; 1 Pet. 2:18-23

Servants must be obedient to their masters (also applicable to employees toward employers).

Eph. 6:1-4; Col. 3:20

Children must obey their parents in the Lord.

The phrase in the Lord (Eph. 6:1) means that children must obey their parents as long as their commands are within the realm of the things authorized by God (cf. Col. 3:17). If a parent commands a child to do something that is sinful, the child must disobey the parent and obey God.

Eph. 5:22-24; Col. 3:18; 1 Pet. 3:1-6

Wives must submit (obey) to their husbands.

Acts 4:19; 5:29

We must obey God before man.

If a husband asks his wife to do something sinful, he must disobey her husband and obey God. If a parent asks his child to do something sinful, he must disobey his parent and obey God.
